Subtle Shifts in Seasons
I’ve been thinking a lot about seasons. In Asia, where I’m currently based, we have more subtle changes to our seasons than I am use to in my home in the northwest of America. Even though the seasonal shifts are softer, they are still present. And I feel like that image of subtle seasons of change is how I am approaching 2020. A lot will continue to shift for me and my family this year: I’ve added a new role to my work, I’m doing more preaching, pastoral care, I’m finishing seminary, and we are welcoming our third child to our family in May. It seems like a lot, but these are all the culmination of gradual shifts in my seasons.
Being aware of how these gradual shifts can impact your life is important. It’s important to take time and reflect. And that’s my plan in 2020, to embrace the changes, slow down a bit, and reflect on all that is good.
